Produce green – buy green
The ecological trend, which is worldwide, is now reaching new borders. The claim to take green actions and the save the environment is now coming from the customers to the suppliers and all the way back to the manufacturers. The need is to produce green products and the customers are now the ones to tell the manufacturers’ how to produce their products.
Customers are saying – yes we buy green products !
Greenpeace volunteers are the guys to thank to, since they have made the first change with Nike and Timberland not so far ago. The two big manufacturers posted a press release that they will no longer buy leather from cows which was grown in the ex forests of the Amazonas. The number of the Amazonas trees in decreasing and more and more Ackers of forests are cutting down in order to free space to the leather production. In this act, Nike and Timberland which are huge power in the industry are trying to save these forests.
Other companies are trying to save the forests around the world and not just in South America. Kleenex for example also announced that they will stop using new trees for their products and will use recycled materials for the Kleenex, Scott, Haggies and other products they are manufacturing. The green customers, which consume more than 4 tons of paper every day in Kleenex products say enough and actually forced the company to go green as well.
The future to have more companies in this situation is close and it’s good for us, good for them and good for the environment. I want to buy products from the supplier who is really care about the environment and I want to know that while making the product for me, and making money from selling it to me and to the other customers, he is not ruin the environment.
