Shut down your engine

Posted by admin on March 22, 2009

Shut down your engine!

Transportation is one of the main causes for the global warming. This is why more and more efforts, resources and education put into this issue. The amount of CO2 we can save from the planet is huge, if we will pay more attention to the need of reducing the transportation harms.

Driving the private car is maybe the worst thing to do, because we are transporting one, two, maximum five people at a time. Using buses and trains are also causing the pollution, but in a smaller amount per person. While 50 people can drive one city bus, it’s the best solution comparing to 30 cars. Of course, the best solution is the bicycles and other no fuel ways to transport, but this is another issue.

There is a disturbing phenomenon, in the big cities, where people are parking for few minutes and remaining the engine to work. Is there an idea behind it? I’m not sure. More than 130,000 tons of CO2 are polluting the air for every car that stands with the engine on, in neutral drive. That’s too much and that unnecessary.

In NYC, there is a new law against this phenomenon, and people will pay up to $250 fine against leaving the car, parking with engine on, for more than a minute. It will be hard to find and fine these people, but it’s a good start.

The better way to fight this phenomenon is education, real ecological education, which will explain and teach about the CO2 dangerous and deadly causes.

Ecological guide

All ecology related issues are important. You can not say that saving water is more important than reduce CO2 or less important than using alternative energy sources. All the green issues are important to understand and are part of our lifes. If you are green, you think green and you act green, the idea to have some guide for all these issues is femiliar for you.

Well, this guide is online now. It calls the “Ecological-guide” and it open to all ecological issues.

Green products, acivists, Eco architecture, Eco lightning, water saving systems and so on. All these eco logical issues are online and will guide you to find the best eco item and service you are looking for.

How brutal can you be?

How brutal can you be?

This article is not about the seals themselves or about the hunting rules in Canada; it’s about human being and the level of brutality it can reach.

In Canada, they are rules for hunters which are going after the seals fur. They have the exact amount they allow to hunt, the steps how to do that and the government is watching the markets from being over flowed with this fur. All over Europe and in the US, people are buying this Fur for good money and the industry is live and kicking.
Although Fur is luxuries and we can live without it, this is the world we are living at and this industry, under the regulation, is feeding some hundreds of Canadian families. It’s of course not true that all the furs used by the trade are abundant, not even half of it. But I do not want to talk about the fur itself, I can understand it’s a product.
I would like to point the brutality of the hunters, when they are going to hunt. I saw the pictures lately, and I was shocked. Again, they can hunt, the Canadian government can allow it and people can buy this seals fur, but why are they hunting this way???

This article is about human brutality. We are brutal and we will continue to be brutal to the people around us, to the environment and to the animals on the planet. Still, watching this kind of hunting is shocking.

Greenpeace Australia and renewable energy

Greenpeace Australia and renewable energy

In Australia, Greenpeace activists are working hard to convince the government not to continue to use coal for power production, but to try all alternative power technologies such as solar, geothermal and sun power.

Lately, the Australian published the updated Renewable Energy Industry Development Program which is the major plan for the continent. Unfortunately, the power production plans id to keep on with the polluted solutions. This is the point where the public pressure can help and make the change.

The need of renewable energy sources is one of the main issues for all green activists because it’s taking part in many ecologic issues. First of all is the great CO2 pollution caused from the coal burn. Second is the nature sources such as coal, oil and gas which are vanished. Third id of course the need to recycle the energy we are using and to know how to use the sun light, wind power and seas to produce energy. Australia has all these sources, just need to decide to use them

(Pic, AFT)

This picture is saying it all; the Greenpeace activists are flying above the power station in New South Wales trying to say something very clear – save the planet. Saving the climate is most about the global warming which is caused from the coal energy

Solar farm, France

Solar farm, France

The economic crises and the need for green energy have brought two French farmers to make a step; they converted their farm from making cheese, wine and eggs into solar energy producers.

“We have such big area and we can not make a living from farming anymore” one of them is saying. “If we can earn money and produce green energy all together, that’s great solution”. The huge solar plant will work on the thin films technology. Sun light hits the thin film photovoltaic solar panels and produced electricity.

The huge investment is covered by some French banks and the technology is provided by American thin films company. This farm alone will become 10% of all solar production in France after it will be ready and active, the save for the environment and the save in terms of pollution is great.

The French solar plant will prevent the emission of 2,750 tones’ of CO2 every single year. More than 4,000 houses in the area will enjoy clean energy. Major plan is to large this plant until 2012 to be able to produce up to 500 Mega Watts

The investors will benefit, the farmers will benefit, the environment benefits and the users benefits. It’s a win-win-win-win situation for all.

Brazilian swamp

Posted by admin on February 21, 2009

Talking about Brazilian swamp, we are actually pointing at two main issues, which are coming together into one. This is the story of real swamp which is dying and unbelievable bureaucratic swamp which is doing nothing to same the real one.

We are talking about the Pantanal swamp, huge area of 150,000 squared meters of wild life, sweat water, great nature and much more. The Pantanal is for sure one of the most beautiful places on earth. This area is now dying.

The great increase in the demand for steal, cattle and Soy products is killing the swamp. The nature is paying the highest price. The wild life animals, the trees and the special texture of life is dying. They are paying the price and we will pay the price in the future. Brazilian bureaucratic swamp is not helping and there is actually no real power to stop the swamp from dying.

What can we do? Do! Join the action to save the swamp, join green activity to raise this issue on top of others so the authorities will take care. For them. For us. For the swamp.

The biggest solar plant 2010

Posted by admin on February 18, 2009

The Biggest plant has just about to be built in California; it will save us from breathing more than two million tons of CO2 every year. This is 99% good news for the environment, for the people who are living around and for the economy. Every Kilo watt of clean energy, is pure victory for the environment.

This is how the top of the Luz Power sees the mirrors:

Its true, to build it, to manufacture the parts and transport the employees and materials will also pollute and damage the environment, but for the long term, this is great solution for the environment. This biggest plant will produce 1,300 MW of clean solar energy. This electricity production will provide the clean energy to more than 800,000 homes in southern California with 3.7 billion Kilo watts.

The solar energy technology which will be in use is the Luz Power technology when thousands of small mirrors will reflect the sun light directly to steam production boiler on the top of the main tower. The boiler will get heated during the sun hours and produce the energy for the electricity.

The plant production is to be started at 2010 and start manufacturing green and clean electricity since 2013 with no time limit.

Something about you and nature

Posted by admin on February 17, 2009

Here is something to think about, you and the nature around you.

Even if you are living in some big city, work inside and spend your free time within the city area, you still have major impact on the nature around the city, and you must remember that. For people who are living in the village, the situation is even worse, they have direct and immediate impact on the nature around them. Its time to save the environment.

For both kind of people, every extra minutes they are driving the car is another air pollution. Every drop of water they are wasting is another drop to be missed later one. Every trash they are throwing away and waste they do not recycle, is another litter in the system. Everything you do have its impact on the nature around and on the people around.

The only thing to do is to be aware. If you are aware of the danger about water pollution, i dont think you will be throwing litter in the lake ever  again. If you will be aware of the damage you cause to your children when you smoke around them and driving the car instead of walking and bicycle ( when you can ) i think you will use the car less.

Think of yourself, think about the people around you and think about the nature.

Now sto pthinking and start doing to save the environemnt.

Global warming can be stopped

Posted by admin on February 14, 2009

New research which was published in the United Kingdom is telling us all what ever we already know. The world is getting warmer every year.

The global warming is an ongoing problem. Even if we will stop all pollution and all activity which is taking part in this warming, the planet will keep get warmer for at least 200 more years. The damage was done and we all going to feel the results sooner or later. This is why they invented the green energy sources.

The time to take action is yesterday, the need is to reduce the power consumption with in our daily lives. Each Watt of electricity we are using is part of the global warming, every time we leave the lights of, is another few minutes of global warming process.

Reduce the need in energy in your daily life and promote alternative power such as solar power and wind power stations. All green energy sources are welcome. This is the future, this is what will save the planet, this is what we need for us and for the generations to come.

Green Australia

Green Australia

Just out of some random searches in Google for Ecological issues, you can find out that Australia is maybe the number one country in the world, with everything related to the environment.

February was bad month for all Australians but to the people in Victoria specifically. Farms burned down, property was lost and life of more than 200 people. This is maybe the place to comfort the Australian nation.

Out of the disaster, im sure the nation will raise and the people will keep on with the green activities. They will plant new trees, clean the mess and restore the nature life in the burned areas. They are just good at all the ecological acts and know to give the nature back, as much as they get from it.

Australian websites, organizations and private people are already join the effort to bring life back to the right course at the damaged areas and recover action are already taking place.

Australian, you are green !

We are green, are you?

The people which taking part at the Yes We Green project are ecological people. If you are ecological, you like to learn how to be more ecological or like to share your knowledge, welcome.
