Reducing CO2 pollution, Obama’s plan

Reducing CO2 pollution, Obama’s plan

After the long campaign he had, the elections and his first months as the US president, Obama is finally starting to show some green steps. The new document now lying on the table is the change we all looked for, the climate care to reduce the CO2 pollutions.

Reduce CO2 pollutions

The draft page is talking about two main roads for the main target to reduce CO2 pollution and stop the global warming. First step is to invest, build and learn to use alternative power productions. No more burning coal, but using wind power, waves, solar energy and water streams in order to produce electricity. Second step is reduction of the need of energy. Means optimizing the use of light stop the major consumptions and look for better ways to power our lives.

Obama is facing major forces which are causing troubles and trying to fight the alternative power solutions. These forces are fighting this eco offers and fighting the green activist which are helping Obama taking the right steps.

In the short term, this offer will raise the alternative power and coal power costs, will make big plants to move to Asia and will hurt the American economy. Maybe its right, but in the long term, new jobs will be open in the alternative power and alternative energy plants, cost per kilowatt will decrease and we all breather better air, by Reducing CO2 pollution.

Shut down your engine

Shut down your engine!

Transportation is one of the main causes for the global warming. This is why more and more efforts, resources and education put into this issue. The amount of CO2 we can save from the planet is huge, if we will pay more attention to the need of reducing the transportation harms.

Driving the private car is maybe the worst thing to do, because we are transporting one, two, maximum five people at a time. Using buses and trains are also causing the pollution, but in a smaller amount per person. While 50 people can drive one city bus, it’s the best solution comparing to 30 cars. Of course, the best solution is the bicycles and other no fuel ways to transport, but this is another issue.

There is a disturbing phenomenon, in the big cities, where people are parking for few minutes and remaining the engine to work. Is there an idea behind it? I’m not sure. More than 130,000 tons of CO2 are polluting the air for every car that stands with the engine on, in neutral drive. That’s too much and that unnecessary.

In NYC, there is a new law against this phenomenon, and people will pay up to $250 fine against leaving the car, parking with engine on, for more than a minute. It will be hard to find and fine these people, but it’s a good start.

The better way to fight this phenomenon is education, real ecological education, which will explain and teach about the CO2 dangerous and deadly causes.

Something about you and nature

Posted by admin on February 17, 2009

Here is something to think about, you and the nature around you.

Even if you are living in some big city, work inside and spend your free time within the city area, you still have major impact on the nature around the city, and you must remember that. For people who are living in the village, the situation is even worse, they have direct and immediate impact on the nature around them. Its time to save the environment.

For both kind of people, every extra minutes they are driving the car is another air pollution. Every drop of water they are wasting is another drop to be missed later one. Every trash they are throwing away and waste they do not recycle, is another litter in the system. Everything you do have its impact on the nature around and on the people around.

The only thing to do is to be aware. If you are aware of the danger about water pollution, i dont think you will be throwing litter in the lake ever  again. If you will be aware of the damage you cause to your children when you smoke around them and driving the car instead of walking and bicycle ( when you can ) i think you will use the car less.

Think of yourself, think about the people around you and think about the nature.

Now sto pthinking and start doing to save the environemnt.

Air pollution and the public health

Posted by admin on February 6, 2009

Air pollution is all around us, and effects us daily. If we are aware of it or not, we are breathing polluted air and hurting ourselves. What can we do? to stop breathing? to move to Alaska where the air is the cleaner in the world? Maybe. But better if we search for ways to save the environment.

The levels of pollution is monitored by the government and divided to some levels. In most western countries and big cities the air is not so clean but ok for living. Only people with problems such as lung diseases, bronchitis or some kind of asthma, may be sensitive to the pollution. Same with young babies and elders. For the most of the public, the air pollution is harmless for the short term, see for yourself, we are alive. But bad for the long term. For them and for yourself, look for better ways to reduce the air pollution and look how you can give more to save the environment!

Air pollution levels:

Levels 1-3: You cant tell there is any pollution, the skies are blue and clean.

Levels 4-6: Minimum air pollution, can be noticed by sensative people.

Levels 7-9: Pollution is effecting the publc, you feel it in your breath. Try not to stay outdoors too much.

Levels 10: The highest of pollution, sensitive people will need medical treatment. For the most of the public, it effects the breathing and the total feeling.

Is Google green?

Posted by admin on January 12, 2009

Is Google green? does the activity in th huge computer centers and servers farms green?

No,  according to new research that was published lately.

Every time you make a Google search and there are around 200 million a day! 7 grams of CO2, Carbon Dioxide is released to the environment. The source for this pollution is the major energy needed to operate the total Google services around the world, including the servers, computers, people and so on. Data centers for example are known as high energy consumers and the IT industry in the world makes the same amount of pollution as the airlines activity !

7 grams is maybe not too much, but if we are talking about 200 million searches a day, we are talking about major pollution regarding the Google services. Google from their side are trying to minimize the pollution by using alternatuve energy sources and by trying to save energy usage.

Google, like MSN, Yahoo, Media companies, online service centers and internet users are all “helping” to the global warmong and pollution. Every sinlg minute we are surfing the net pollute more because of the energy in use. So how can we be more green about it?

Use less energy, surf less and use less computer time.

Use recycable enery and alternative energy sources.

Driving together producing less pollution

Posted by admin on January 9, 2009

The idea is not new and becoming more and more popular among people from all over the world – driving together.

Have a car? take someone with you for your trip. Need a ride? look for someone with a car to join to.

More and more commercial and social websites are joining the effort to promote join riding. More people to drive in one car means less cars on the road. Less cars means less traffic and much less pollution. Check around you next time you are driving to work, how many people are in the car next to you, and in the car behind? who is driving with you if any? Its a total waste of power, waste of energy and over pollution for no cause.

Big companies are bonusing their employees for drivng together. Instead of liese 4 cars for 4 different employees who are living in the same toun, the complany liese one car and divide it to the four of them. Each day one of them is taking the car home and he must take his friend with him to work and back home after work.

Think who you can take with you while driving, think if you can leave the car at home and drive with someone else. Take a green action and drive together.

2009 and the global warming

Posted by admin on January 4, 2009

2009 is going to be hot year, thats a fact!

Global warming is still here, every extra power we are using, every pollutions and over heat is caout in the atmosphere and heating earth. The global warming is here, what are you doing to stop it ?

Global warming is not just melting glaciers and raising sea level, its also the temperature all around. Two major forces are acting against each other in the global warming playground, El Niño and La Niña. These forces are different stages in a cyclical global pattern well known by meteorologists as the great Southern Oscillation.

So in 2009, expect normal temperature of 0.4 Celzious above the average all over the planet.

Think green, be green, try to eco your actions and use less energy. This is the minimum to do n order to take green action to help the planet cool down.

Water pollution effects human health

Water pollution effects human health

Pollution is bad in general, we are breathing polluted air, drinking polluted water and eating fruits ans vegetables, grown in polluted land. In most cases we do not see the pollution nor smell it, but its still there.

Some chemicals that a factory thrown into the river, or some personal throwing his old PC between the trees are effecting the underground water and polluting them. These are the effects we are drinking inside our water:

1. Heavy metals comes from several sources. Chemical and metal Industries, wrong waste expulsion and electronic garbage. These metals are finding the way into our water in on surface streams and underground aquifers.  The toxic water that now pumped and delivered to the consumers are causing diseases, hart attacks and cancer.

2. Microbial pollutants from waste and on land pollution, also finds the way to the underground water and cause diseases, epidemics , reproductive failure and children growing problems. This kind of pollution is invisible, almost with no smell, but its there.

3. Air pollution. Yes, Air pollution is a major aspect in water pollution. As the air getting polluted, the rain is getting more acid. This rains together with morning dew gets into the land and water and cause immune suppression and acute poisoning.

Think about all the aspects when you are throwing the batteries into the regular garbage can and not into the special batteries can. Think of the drinking water before you allow your boss at the factory to pollute the nearby river.

Keep the water clean for he health of our all.

We are green, are you?
